How To Create Your Own Successful And Profitable Affiliate Program

Most of the truly successful marketers have three competitive advantages :

They run successful Affiliate Programs (Part 1)

They own large Opt-In Lists and have large traffic (Part 2)

They create their own products (Part 3)

Step #1 - Three Affiliate Program Opportunities

Opportunity 1 - Using Own Products and Services

Combining your own products with a successful Affiliate Program is almost a license to write your own checks.

Opportunity 2 - Using Resell and Master Rights Products

Surprisingly, as you will see in step 4, you can create and run an Affiliate Program even if you don't have your own products and services.

Opportunity 3 - Substitute Joint Ventures

All successful Affiliate Programs are joint ventures in miniature. Your affiliate partners require as much of your support and commitment as would any JV partners.

Step #2 - The Top Ten Features Of A Good Affiliate Program

It delivers consistent sales for Affiliates, by marketing products with high consumer benefits.

It operates on a Leveraged I'ncome Pay structure, which extends a number of levels deep.

It operates on a Residual I'ncome Pay structure giving Affiliates repeat I'ncome.

A good program has high quality marketing tools and incentives for the Affiliates.

It pays out big percentages of the sale to the Affiliates and it pays promptly

The administration function tracks and corrects affiliate issues quickly, and effectively.

A good program trains and supports Affiliates enthusiastically.

It offers Affiliates complimentary, high value, front and back end products for promotion.

It handles all end customer care issues.

10) A good program constantly tests new ideas to support and strengthen ties with affiliates and end customers alike.

Step #3 - "Own Product Affiliate Program"

Most people join an Affiliate Program on the strength and reliability of its compensation plan.

* Compensation Structure Planning :

Who can join the program

Is it open to anyone or just selected, approved partners ?

Downline matrix structure for Leveraged I'ncome

How deep is the matrix of downline earnings for Leveraged I'ncome ?

Residual I'ncome Payments

Does the program pay Residual I'ncome, on repeat subscriptions for as long as the end customer renews ?

Minimum Payment amounts, and deadlines.

Policy on payments, returns and deductions from Affiliate payments must be clear from the beginning.

Affiliate monitoring of the program

Affiliates must be able to easily monitor referrals and earnings. Clear and accurate reports to Affiliates should be available online or sent by e-mail.

* Marketing Plans

Develop high quality graphical links that Affiliates can use on their own websites to point to your program. These include

Web Templates and copy

Banner Links

Button Links

Text Links

Write e-courses coaching your Affiliates on what works best in promoting your products and services.

Do not make the mistake of thinking that when they sign up the whole thing will run on autopilot.

* Legal Issues

Consult professional, qualified lawyers to help you draw up your program terms and conditions before you go to market. The upfront cost involved may save you greater expense in the future.

Step #4 - Resell and Master Rights Product Affiliate Programs

An Affiliate Program without your own products is possible, but use caution - it is less likely to be a huge earner, than one promoting your own stable of products.

Why would anyone join an Affiliate Program to promote a resell or master rights product, that they could buy and sell earning 100% of the profits ?

The answer is reduced effort, time and money.

An Affiliate Program for resell or master rights products saves the affiliate from having to buy, process, add value to and give customer service to the resell rights product.

It becomes an easy I'ncome stream that people may want to join.

The trick in this situation is to

Spot a product with selling potential, that is relatively scarce and has not been over marketed.

Create the Affiliate Program where the product owner has failed or is incapable of seeing the market opportunity.

Remember caution - Do not spend huge sums setting up this type of program because the "Return on Investment" is likely to be low.

Step #5 - Mini Joint Venture

JV partners bring "something with them, to the party" - This might be funding, a huge opt-in list, a product or service, or ideas.

Affiliate partners on the other hand, bring only their desire to promote your products and services.

However, the practical day to day administration of the two types of programs is very similar.

For instance:

You should coach affiliates and JV partners in the best way to market the products.

You must listen to their issues and deal with them effectively and efficiently

You must make sure they are happy with the program arrangements, in order that they promote it strongly and join up for future promotions.

JV's and Affiliate programs are different, but only in small details. Treat them with similar care.

Step #6 - Affiliate Program Automation

Quality tools are indispensable for Affiliate Program Automation

Affiliate Scripts - These are commercially available scripts that allow you to set up programs of various complexity in terms of compensation plans, account management, and program administration.

Administration Tools - These allow you to see in detail which Affiliates are performing and deserving of more of your effort, time and attention and which ones are not and can therefore be dropped from the program.

Sequential Autoresponder - Use this to coach and train your Affiliates by sending them regular e-mail.

VoIP Communicators - These allow you to hold Cheap Live training and support seminars where your Affiliates can virtually attend, see, hear and talk to one another from across the Globe without the need for expensive travel or phone costs.

Payment Processor - This is the facility by which your Affiliate partners will be paid.

Product Fulfillment - A successful program will generate many sales and the fulfillment process must be able to cater for the heavy workload.

Customer Care - The extra sales means that you may need to handle higher levels of end customer issues including returns.

Step #7 - In a Nutshell

This may seem daunting at first reading, but in reality setting up an Affiliate Program is straightforward.

The blue print is :

Decide on the product type you want to set a program up for.

Decide on Affiliate entry and acceptance criteria

Decide on the compensation plan

Decide on the marketing plan

Decide the legal structure

Choose your automation tools

Market the program

Train and support your affiliates, especially your winners.

Don't be afraid to test new ideas

* Top Ten Tips for working with an affiliate program

Choose programs that have a pay plan extending a number of levels down - This builds Leveraged AND Residual Income.

Make sure when you direct visitors to your affiliate program, their browser opens a new window. This ensures when they close the affiliate site, your site is still open.

Use a cloaked redirect link to the affiliate site to prevent opportunist stripping out of your affiliate id.

Using a product like AdGizmo or Shrink My Link, observe Click Through Rates (CTR) on your affiliate links to determine which links pull visitor attention, and therefore which ones you should spend time and effort on.

Measure Click Through To Sales ratios to see which programs are delivering bottom line cash. Drop non-sellers and find better performing programs.

Use products and services of the affiliate programs you promote. This gives your recommendations a personal stamp of authority.

Use a combination of your own ad copy as well as the affiliate program owner's copy. This makes your promotion and campaign stand out from other affiliates.

Set deadlines for your expectation of profit on a program. If it does not meet your deadlines, drop it and seek better opportunities or change your marketing techniques.

Find winners and promote the programs hard. These programs can make you large residual and leveraged income for very little work.

Promote affiliate programs offering complimentary products and services on your web site. For instance, if you run a Sports site - promote programs offering products with a Sporting theme.

Guaranteed Signups - Scams or FastTrack Growth?

One thing that seems to be cropping up in many online Forums (of which I am a member of a few) in recent months is Guaranteed Signups for various online Affiliate and MLM programs. It would appear from the trends in those discussions; that there is, to some extent, a lot of confussion about definition. A decent number of companies or websites offer this service and a Google search for the term returns over 57,000 hits along with a huge list of PPC Ads. This post is about determining whether Guaranteed Signups are scams or they are a means to FastTrack growth and increasing your earnings from online Affiliate programs. Are they worthless However, the first order of business would be to define or describe what Guaranteed Signups are or are not.

The general confusion seems to lie in the misunderstandings surrounding the definition. Guaranteed Signups (GS) are prospects that sign up for your Affiliate program, they are usually intended for free signups. In other words, they are leads. Guaranteed Paid Signups (GPS)are prospects that sign up for your program and purchase an upgrade within the alotted upgrade period. Guaranteed Paid Signups are also sometimes called guaranteed paid upgrades.

The differences should be clear from the above paragraph, but as you can see; it can be confusing at first glance. Particularly so for Internet Affiliate newbies (eNewbies). This confusion or thin line differential is what makes it easy for the misrepresentation that is rampant in this arena. That is, the companies or sites that sell this service play the word games in their Sales Ad copies to make the sale.

The percentage of scams are so high that it is mathematically acceptable to say that they are all scams!!! However, I have come accross a few Net marketers that vouch for services rendered by about four (4) companies/sites.

It is quite common for these companies to promise GS and instead deliver harvested email addresses and 'lifted' personal data (mostly harvested from the internet). What this means is that you end up with a bunch of leads that are not leads and never in fact signed up for your program. They do this by paying programmers to write them autosubmitters to your signup page. The potential for SPAM complaints is very high in this instance. You could loose your website, your affiliate membership, and that is in addition to loosing your money!

How do you recognize a potential GS scam?

a] You may be offered a lot outrageous freebies.
b] You may be offered affiliateship.
c] You may be offered shares.
d] Company is only a few months in business.
e] Owner was involved in previous scams.
f] Sounds to good to be true.

How do you protect yourself?

a] Avoid GS altogether.
b] Check company background from blacklisted company lists.
c] Check Forum threads by doing a keyword search.
d] Obtain written documentation with clearly defined services.
e] If you decide to bite, make sure you use a credit card.
f] Purchase buyer protection where possible.
g] Purchase only guaranteed upgrades.
h] As always caveat emptor! (buyers beware).

GS companies with bad reviews or bad comments by more than 80% samples:

Not An Affiliate? Why Ever Not?

If the idea of pursuing a living on the net has repeatedly crossed your mind but you still haven't found a way to implement it, then affiliate programs are going to break the ice for you.

Affiliate programs are a lot like learning how to swim in a pool before you go to the open sea. Anyone can try them at least once without having to worry about the consequences.

The good ones are usually safe and do not require a great commitment of time and money from your part. Of course, at this point, some people would argue that this is the exact reason why most people fail. But that's another issue.

Besides, in many cases, signing up for the right program can be as rewarding as launching your very own enterprise. But above all, it's a good start.

You see, good affiliate programs are ready to share a wealth of information with you in order to make you successful. They provide resources packed with vital information, give you access to proven online strategies and techniques and teach you how to begin correctly exploiting them. They also save you from making too many mistakes.

Some companies have ongoing seminars that last for months or even longer. The lessons cover all aspects of internet marketing and in your early days as an internet marketer they prove to be part of an invaluable training.

But, in case you're still wondering what is so great about being an affiliate when there are thousands of them out there, here's another way to look at things :

1.Each affiliate is unique.

When you sign an agreement with a company to become their affiliate and promote their products you are requested to follow basic guidelines. These primarily deal with things such as privacy, business ethics and general company policy.

Apart from these issues, a company can supply you with resources and business strategies, as mentioned before, but they cannot determine the actions you are going to take in order to promote your business. In a word, you are free to choose any way you like (as long as you're not breaking any law) to build and promote your business.

If, for instance, you want to use a weblog to talk about your product when no one else in your field is doing it, then you are free to do so. You can use any number of options and techniques to make yourself stand out and draw people to your offer. Again, you and only you get to decide which ones.

2. There is no real conflict of interests.

Now, imagine that you decide to create your business in the real world. Let's say that you're opening up a store selling mobile phones and other hi-tech stuff made by a well known company.

Yours, of course, is not the only place in town where you can get these items. You are not an exclusive dealer. Just like an affiliate.

But unlike an affiliate, you have to do everything in your power to make people come to your store and buy from you instead of going to another store that sells exactly the same products.

Why? Because, if you don't make the sale then there's absolutely nothing in it for you. Not to mention the cost of running a business which in the offline world can be a nightmare.

I am not saying here, that if you are an affiliate for a company you'll be making money without making any sales. I am just pointing out that there are great affiliate programs that will reward you with a small amount of extra cash generated by other affiliates.

So, there's really no reason to get upset when other people make sales. This is good for you too. Think about it for a moment, you could actually be helping others making sales and still help yourself growing revenue at the same time.

3. The more affiliates the better for you.

How do you think your competitors would react to your opening up a new store and tightening the competition? Well, they're not going to be thrilled, that's for sure! They have a lot to loose and nothing to gain.

But what about you, the affiliate?

Let's face it. The internet is a huge place. Credibility and trust are hard to come by and a lot harder to build.

New affiliates being added to a program everyday helps build a reputation. It means that the program works and the company's plans are sound. (More details on how to choose an affiliate program can be found here : http://www.work-at-home-businessoffer.com/work_at_home_rules.htm )

You could have an unlimited number of affiliates under you or above you and you would all be working to spread the word. Wouldn't you yourself feel more comfortable signing up for a program that you've stumbled upon more than a few times already?

A constantly growing number of affiliate sites stands as proof to potential earnings. They are the best kind of publicity for the company behind them. They benefit and so do you.

So, it all comes down to this : don't discard affiliate programs so easily when trying to build an online future. They can be an excellent way of earning and learning at the same time.

How Joint Ventures Can Catapult You to Success

Substantial opportunities for increased sales and profits are missed by not seeking out and implementing joint ventures.

Strategic alliances also create value for the customer and save money and build future relationships for the partners.

They don't have to be complicated, and they can be negotiated and launched quickly.

First, a quick and simple example. A bank that sends its statements out each month is approached by a ski resort. The resort offers an exclusive introductory discount to the bank's clients. 1. The bank gets to look good by offering something of value to their customers at little or no cost to the bank. 2. The customers save money and hopefully become long-time customers. 3. The resort gains exposure and potentially new guests--with no mailing expense.

That's called a triple win.

All it takes is a little imagination and the commitment to make it happen. The potential is substantial.

And they're fun. They provide some diversity and variety that makes work more interesting.

Begin with giving more than you expect to receive. What can you offer another company? What can the other company provide that you don't have--or would be expensive to obtain? A little brainstorming, some planning and some follow-through, and you can easily create a profitable joint venture.

Do it once, fine tune it, and then do it again with the knowledge and experience you've gained.

The possibilities are endless.

The joint ventures you don't seek out and execute represent huge sums left on the table.

Put together a project team this week. Generate ideas on how and with whom you might partner. Create your triple win.

How Much do YOU Charge Per Hour? Avoid the Question by Setting up Passive Income Streams

If you work with clients, at some point in your career, you've probably been asked, "What's your hourly rate?" or "How much do you charge per hour?"

Now, you and I both know this question isn't totallyrelevant, even if you provide services like I do. Because itdoesn't really matter how much I charge per hour. What theclient really wants to know is, "How much is this going tocost me?"

But they don't want to pay some astronomical hourly fee, either. They want to feel like you put some effort intotheir work.

So what you really need to know is, "How much is it worth tothis client to have this problem solved?"

Sure, I could quote an hourly rate. But usually I don't.They'd be shocked. Because I've been doing what I do forabout 30 years, so I can often write a brochure in "recordtime," which wouldn't pay me enough to stay in business.

So I don't charge an hourly rate. I charge for my "smarts"-- my knowledge and experience. And if the project rate iswithin the client's budget, they're willing to pay it.

But how'd you like to get out of the piecework businessaltogether? I know I would!

That's why lots of people take the risk of commissionedsales. That is, they sell something and then get paid acommission--no salary. And some programs, like Mary Kay,are two-tier commissioned sales--meaning you get commissionson what YOU sell AND you get commissions on what your"downline" sales force sells.

So you and your underlings go out and beat the pavement, looking for new and returning customers to sell makeup to.You also keep your eye out for more sales reps who want tojoin your team, too. You'd never think of advertising yourproduct in the newspaper, would you? No, because Mary Kay isdirect sales.

Well, the online world of marketing has taken this a littlefarther. It's called affiliate sales.

Some programs pay one-tier and some pay two-tiercommissions. It's basically the same as Mary Kay. But what'sdifferent is that usually you're being paid for "electrons"instead of makeup.

Someone writes an ebook that you decide to sell for themthrough your website. You put it up in your store, and thenyou forget it. Every once in awhile, someone buys it and youget a commission. Maybe you've recruited others through youraffiliate link to sell the same product. They put it up ontheir website and make sales. You get a commission everytime you sell the product AND every time your downlineaffiliate sells the product.

AND you have the option to advertise the product using pay-per-click campaigns on Google and Overture (and otherplaces). You write such a good ad that tons of people clickon it and visit your website. Because you have such aterrific sales page for the product, let's say that half thepeople buy it when they visit.

Now you're cookin'!

You also improve your search engine rankings--meaning youdo all the right things and every time someone searches onyour keywords, you come up on the FIRST PAGE of searchresults. So more people visit your website.

And while they're there, they might buy something or not.Or, they might see a Google ad that interests them and clickoff to someone else's site.

You got it! You make money on that, too! And after awhile, your website becomes your product.

Now you want to add more revenue streams to your business(firing every difficult client you have and replacing thatrevenue with something else...wouldn't that be great?!!?).So you write your own ebooks or nifty little softwareproduct that you can sell the same way you sell otherpeople's electronic products, as well as through an ezine. But this time YOU KEEP ALL THE MONEY. Because it's your product.

Unless, of course, you recruit affiliates to sell yourproduct for you. And who wouldn't? It gets your product outto LOTS more people. So you have to pay them 40% of thesales price. What does it cost you? Zip. Zero. Nada. It'sjust electrons.

You did all the work up front, so you can collect the moneyover and over and over as sales are made.

THAT'S PASSIVE INC0ME!

:: How To Succeed With An Affiliate Program

Affiliate Programs have exploded on the internet. Thousand of people join them every day. Amazon.com is probably the best example of such phenomenal success.

If the affiliate program is so popular and so widely available and booming like mushroom...Why do most affiliate have a hard time making $100 per month ? And some never see have receive a check ? It's probably because they are not effective in their marketing campaign or doing noting at all.

But some affiliates are making big bucks. They are the one with an income of ($100,000 and over per year). There is also a big majority who still make a good income (around $10 000 to $75 000 a year). Of course the vast majority of affiliate will never make that much money. They fail miserably.

So what is wrong with them ?

THEY DON'T SET GOALS

Most people fail at anything because most people don't have a clear vision of where they are heading. They don't take the time to learn and experiment. They give up too easily.

Yes, it feels "unproductive" to prepare and set up a system... But it's how the successful succeed.

The solution? Planning and learning.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT AFFILIATE PROGRAM

Choosing the best companies is an art in itself. Choose affiliate program that are already successful and well established like SFI. Choose the one that offer good training and good marketing aids.

Successful affiliates select the best companies. They use new ideas and creativity to attract customers. They never give up.

DEVELOP A GOOD WEBSITE

Lot's of people don't know how to design a website. Or don't have the money to hire a webmaster. Even the ones who can design a website. They design poor content or poor design. Produce low value gateway pages. They use free web hosting. They don't master the search engine.

The solution? Take what you know, what you love, and turn it into a Theme-Based Content Site. Attract highly targeted, interested customers, provide solid value through content, then refer them to your affiliated merchants.

DRIVING TRAFFIC

Having lot's of traffic to your website is a big challenge. But it is essential to be successful. Or at least to make a reasonable amount of money.

You have to make your site "search engine friendly". You need content for the search engine to spider your website.

You need to know how your webpage is index and how well it is ranked on the SE to better perform.

Use every marketing method to drive traffic.

a.. PPC Campaign

b.. Linking Strategy

c.. Writing Articles

d.. Ezine Publishing

e.. Newsletter

f.. Banner Advertising

g.. Viral Marketing (EBooks, Freeware etc.)

h.. Offline as well. (Business Cards, Flyers, Radio Spots etc.)

CONCLUSION

Affiliate Program are great. You can really make a substantial income at almost no cost. This is the simplest way to start a business. You can really succeed if you keep learning and experimenting.

Why Do Many People Fail in Affiliate Marketing!

Affiliate marketing has been around on the Web for quite sometime now, but there are still a lot of people who doesn't know much or even nothing about it. Most of the people that don't know about affiliate marketing and has just discovered it normally thinks that they can make a quick buck or two. Well that's not the case.

To do well in affiliate marketing is not just a one-day task. Affiliate marketing is like an on going assignment where you have to try different things out like different advertising techniques, different ways of adding affiliate banners and text links to your site, etc. You may even have to join a number of affiliate programs just to see which ones performs the best with the other content that you already have on your site.

Another thing is that many affiliates expect to do well from just having a list of about 20 affiliated banners on one page of their site. Well that's not exactly true as people will see your web page and won't even bother clicking on any of the banners to go to your affiliated sites as your web page just looks like a link farm. How people think they can make money this way, I really don't know as affiliate marketing takes time and effort before any results can be seen.

If you are adding affiliate banners or text links to your site, then the best thing to do is for you to add affiliate links or banners to your site that is on the same topic as the other information on your web page. By doing this, you will not want to add too many affiliated banners or text links as it will just look like a page of links and will only turn your visitors away, about three affiliated links should be enough depending on how large the web page is.

Another important aspect in affiliate marketing is advertising. You can't expect to add affiliate material to your site and expect to receive sales straight away. If you have no traffic coming to your site, then you will not get any sales. Infact, directly advertising the affiliate links or adding the affiliate links to your website and advertising that is probably one of the most important things that you will need to do to have any chance of succeeding. This is because the more you promote your affiliate link or site that contains the affiliate links, then the more clickthru's your affiliate links are likely to receive, which is then most likely to result in more sales.

Affiliates: 3 Things You Should Own Though You Dont Own A Product.

1. Your Own web site:

Most affiliates put a redirect link directly to their affiliate product. It is not such a good practice.

Register a domain that closely resembles your affiliate product website. For example, if you are an affiliate for affiliateproduct.com web site, try to register affiliate-product.com or affiliateproduct.net.

Follow the lay-out of your affiliate product web site.

Put content on your web site (minimum of 10 pages). Like articles and reviews related to your affiliate product. No need to say to put up links leading the visitor to your affiliate web site.

If you have a multiple different affiliate products, don't mix them up and put all of those links on same web site. Choose a multidomain host and host your different affiliate web sites for cheap.

2. Your Own opt-in list:

You need your own opt-in list **no matter** what you sell and your own or your affiliate product.

Start giving free ecourse or an ezine related to your affiliate product and collect email addresses.

You need a follow up autoresponder or a maling list manager to manage this process of collecting emails, follow up, sending promotional emails etc. etc.

Here are two scripts that you can use them as BOTH follow up autoresponders and mailing list managers: http://www.autoresponseplus.com/; http://www.scripts4webmasters.com/arpproadv/index.shtml

3. Your Own Ezine articles:

Yep! You have to spread the word about your affiliate product. Don't You? Write articles related to your affiliae product and publish them on your web site, send them to publishers, submit them to content sites.

Do a search on Google or Altavista like 'submit+article', you will get a big list of sites. Keep your favorites on your Favorites folder and submit to them on regular basis.

Few tips in writing ezine articles in the affiliates perspective:

Don't expose your affiliate link directly in your resourcebox.

Usually affiliate links comes as long URLs. These tend to breakup. So use some kind of redirection.

Only promote one product in one article.

5 Magical Steps For Creating A Profitably Potent Affiliate Program!

There are a few reasons why your affiliate program isn't bringing in the traffic and profits you've always hoped for. And below, I've outlined 5 quick ways to change that so you can get more traffic and profits using the power of "super" affiliates.

1) Make Sure Your Sales Letter Converts -- Nothing puts a damper on an affiliate program quicker than having affiliates sending you tons of traffic but not giving them anything in return.

If your sales letter really works hard to turn prospects into customers, then you're going to make your affiliates (and yourself) very happy.

So, spend some time getting your sales letter converting well. Study how to write better copy, or hire a professional to write you a hard-selling letter.

2) Offer Affiliate Tools -- This is so important. Most affiliates will promote your program if you give them the tools to do it.

Hire someone to design some strong banners. Create a weekly "affiliate tips" newsletter to share new ideas. Create sales letters and graphics affiliates can use that will work to get the word out on your product fast.

3) Start An Affiliate Contest -- And give away prizes for top sellers and those most improved. Or, make an offer that an affiliate making 10 sales through their link gets your product free. It doesn't cost much to run a contest of this type, and the return is great.

4) Define Your Perks And Tell Potential Affiliates Why They Should Promote Your Program -- If your sales letter converts visitors like crazy, tell them. If you split profits down the middle and share 50% of each sale with the referring affiliate, let them know.

Tell them about contests you run and tools you offer to make it easy. Put your offer into focus for potential affiliates. If you have a high-priced product, you could say something like, "This sales letter converts 1 out of every 50 visits. And with the product going for $297, and you getting half of that for each sale, 100 visitors sent from your site can put an easy $297 in your pocket."

5) Get The Word Out -- Place a link on your sales page that sends those clicking to a full-page sales letter detailing all the benefits of offering your product to their visitors.

Promote your affiliate program instead of the product. There are hundreds of ezines in existence that cater to those promoting affiliate programs. Take out an ad and tell them why they want to be an affiliate for you.

Check out keywords online that target your audience and get in touch with the webmasters. Tell them about your programs benefits and give them the opportunity to sign up.

Affiliate programs, once in place, can bring you automatic, low cost traffic for years to come. Take the time to set yours up right, and reap the rewards for years to come.

Affiliate Marketing - Ten Excellent Reasons Why You Should Do It

There are many opportunities to make money working on the Internet. Becoming an affiliate marketer is a great way of having your own online business. Here are ten excellent reasons why you should choose affiliate marketing for your home based business.

1. Be Your Own Boss - What a magical ring that phrase has to it! This is my absolute favourite reason for being an affiliate marketer. Actually, it is my top reason for having any home based business.

2. Low cost set-up - Most affiliate programmes are free to join, so all you need to start your business is an Internet-connected computer and word-processing software. You can work from absolutely anywhere in the world and it makes no difference whether you have a cosy office or work from a corner of your kitchen table.

3. No shipping costs - You don't need to worry about paying for postage or buying packing stuff such as boxes, wrapping paper, parcel tape, labels and so on. You never have to struggle with carrying heavy packages to the post office. The cost and bother of packing and shipping products to customers belongs to the merchant, not the affiliate.

4. Choice of thousands of products and services - All you have to do is decide what you want to sell (and, of course, what you think people will want to buy), just about everything is available online. With affiliate directories like Clickbank it's easy to find products to sell.

5. No merchant account or invoicing software required - You can forget the problems associated with invoicing, collecting payments and processing credit cards. The merchant handles all payment processing; as an affiliate, you never have to worry about chargebacks, fraud or losing your merchant account.

6. On sale everywhere - Your sales area has no geographic limits but you don't have to leave home. You can promote your web site worldwide, every Internet user in the whole world is potentially your customer (and you call this a small business!).

7. High income potential -With your own affiliate business your income level is limited only by your desire and effort - not by corporate salary scale structure or the whim of your boss.

8. No inventory to carry - You can sell any item, large or small without having to worry about storage space. You could sell trucks from a one-bedroom apartment! You don't have to the worry or expense of insuring stock or having extra security to protect it.

9. Low running costs - Apart from a modest budget for advertising and a small amount to pay for your internet connection, you have nothing much in the way of overheads. You work from home, so the big expense of renting premises is avoided and it is possible to get income tax reductions to cover some things such as part of your electricity and phone bills.

10.Always open for business - As an affiliate, your business keeps running and pulling in profits for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even on Bank Holidays. You are open for business even while you are asleep. You don't have to worry about business hours or delivery deadlines, all that proceeds on autopilot. You don't have to worry about scheduling staff holidays: you don't even need any staff!

How to make money with Affiliate Programs - The Sensible Way

Every day, thousands of would-be marketers scour the internet looking for any and every affiliate program, sign up, sit back and wait for the money to pour in and getfrustrated just as fast when the bank balance still shows a big, fat ZERO!

There are tons of guru's floating around and even more eBooks and articles claiming to know the latest and greatest trick to make tons of money with no effort at all(oh and of course, unless you use their method then you will never, ever get anywhere in your online business and stay broke the rest of your life). We've all seen these before.

Let's get real for a moment. If you don't put any effort into your marketing and don't spread the word of whatever you are marketing, then you will get exactly that much out of your effort.Zero effort = Zero results!

I hope that's plain enough and now let's have a look at the sensible way to market your affiliate programs, so you can actually earn some of that Internet-Money-Pie (and it's yummy too).

There are two types of affiliate programs generally. Those that pay you (1-tier) and those that pay you, plus they pay you a bonus for actions taken by visitors sent by other webmasters you have referred (2-tier).

Let's think about that for a moment. What's the easier way to make money? You sell a bunch of products and get paid on that alone, or if you sell product and also introduce the affiliate program to a bunch of webmasters who in turn also sell and they earn a nice commission and you get a bonus every single time they sell something, just for having referred them to the affiliate program?

Ok, I know you probably just smacked your forhead and said 'Duh' quite loudly and think I am stating the plain and obvious.

If you can get others to do the same thing you are doing, by keeping in touch with them and helping them and duplicating your efforts, then of course it stands to reason that the bonus you receive for referring the webmasters will generate potentially a large team of people making you money.

So, your first task is to find good, well-paying 2-tier affiliate programs. You can always use single tier programs as a back end sale or on other projects, don't get me wrong, they will still make you money, but right now, we want to get you started off on the right foot to your own internet income.

So, you've gone out and found a well-paying affiliate program, and you are ready to rumble and make money...

Not So Fast!!!

How are you going to promote it? What is your plan of attack? That's another problem many marketers run into, they just run off and don't think before they act and that again results in a lot less return for all of your efforts.

Here's what I have done in the past and always do, feel free to try this out and see the results for yourself.

After finding the affiliate program I want to promote, I check the resource material provided by the program. Sometimes, depending on how new the program is, I use their material to get things rolling but almost every time, I start to write some ads of my own, perhaps an article or even an ebook that I can use to promote the product and the affiliate program with. Some of those resources are available to readers of the eBusinessCornerNews newsletter for example.

Another thing I do, after putting together all the marketing material I want to use is to check out the competion that's already in the market. I don't really care if there is competition, as a matter of fact, many times that is a good indicator that there is a good demand for the type of product I am promoting. You can do this pretty easily by just going to a search engine and typing in keywords you associate with the product for example (there are a lot of additional ways to do this that we discuss in our newsletter).

There are a ton of places you can advertise your product, and the marketing material you are using, such as article directories, free advertising forums or websites, you caneven find a lot of ezines that allow you to place free classifieds and websites you can post your ad on, at no cost.

Another thing that is handy to have is a website of my own, where I can post my thoughts and comments (nothing sells better than your own, plain english comments and reviews) along with any other articles I can find that will help to draw visitors in and make the search engines list my site better.

Most of the time, I will take a few of my articles and turn them into a free ebook, or post the articles in article directories where other webmasters are permitted to reprint them in their own newsletter, provided they leave my resource box (see the bottom of this article for an example) in place. So now they are spreading the word for me, driving traffic on my behalf and orders too.

But I like to help, as much as I like to earn money too, so here's what I do. When I find a good newsletter that I like then I touch base with that publisher and offer him the article, but I also tell him it's for a 2-tier affiliate program and if he would like, then he could use my article, if he either leaves my box in place or signs up under me and then I let him add his link into my box, so he can earn the bigger piece of the pie and I get the bonus commissions from his sales.

Now, why would I do that? Simple...

I do that, because there's a much better chance that he will send out my article sooner, rather than later because now he has the potential to earn money with it too.

Find a few publishers like that and you are well on your road to getting a nice piece of the pie and the great thing is that anytime you find a new affiliate program to promote and write a new article, you already have made contacts that you can send it to, so it gets easier every time and takes a lot less effort on your part.

Well, there you have the sensible way of making money with affiliate programs.

(Note: There are a lot of other methods available to market your affiliate program and earn money, but this is one of the best methods I have ever used.)

Affiliate Alternative; Google Adsense

The Rise and Fall of Affiliate Programs

Affiliate programs were once a great source of online revenue, a savvy webmaster with an eye for marketing could easily parley a site into a money making machine with a little luck and effort. However, the evolution and growth of the Internet has hampered the growth of fortune making affiliate programs. Constant search engine algorithm changes, along with the search engine's clear distaste for sites participating in affiliate programs; have made it a little more difficult to earn a healthy affiliate revenue. An influx in the use of software programs that terminate cookie tracking and privacy programs that prevent webmasters from tracking referrers, have also hindered the affiliate sales channel. While it is still possible to make money through affiliate marketing, other alternatives ought to be considered.

A Healthy Alternative or Supplement

Google's Adsense program allows approved websites to dynamically serve Google's pay-per-click Adword results. This has become a popular alternative and an effective revenue sharing program for webmasters. Google's spider parses the adserving website and serves ads that relate to the website's content. While the Google's Adsense program still has some issues, they are making efforts to improve it.

The website maintenance related to Adsense is very easy and requires very little effort. Webmasters need only to insert javascript into the webpage or website template. The javascript calls the ad from Google and will ensure that ads are served each time a visitor goes to the webpage. If the visitor clicks one of the Adsense ads served to the website, the website owner is credited for the referral.

The implementation, while simple, has its drawbacks. Google dictates the format of the ads. Webmasters can select from a handful of preformatted text boxes that lack creativity. A recent improvement allows webmasters to modify the ad boxes to resemble the website's color scheme. Still, a far cry from some of the creative ads webmasters are accustom to.

The example below reflects how the color scheme can be modified to match the look of the website, but the ads physically don't fit well into the overall website design.

sample modified to match sites color scheme:

http://www.hospital-software.com (scroll to the bottom)

Google determines the content of the ads that are shown/ Sometimes the ads are poorly targeted, and of no interest to the website visitors.

sample of poorly targeted ads:

http://www.real-estate-supply.com

Adwords can be a great addition to a website, and when well matched to the content the revenue stream from Google is consistent and effortless.

sample of effective Adsense program:

http://www.police-supplies.com (scroll to the bottom)

http://www.small-business-software.net (scroll to the bottom)

Not that the Google Adsense program is not without its problems.as the reporting provided by Google is lacking. Google has not implemented any way to track multiple sites that serve ads; they simply show the number of ads served, the percentage of clicks received, and the revenue earned each day. Google does not disclose the amount of the revenue they share, what percentage of the revenue they earn and what someone can expect to receive for each click. Webmasters with multiple sites will have difficulty determining which websites are producing the money in the Adsense program.

With affiliate programs many webmasters implement a new browser launch with each click off the site, Adsense removes the visitor from the website and there is not currently an option to launch the visitor into another browser.

Early on Google implemented a filtering system that allowed webmasters to prevent a specific domain's ads from being served on the website. Ad blocking meant that webmasters could prevent their competitors ads from being dynamically served on their website.

Overall, adwords are great supplements to websites where affiliate programs are either not performing or when affiliate programs don't exist that target the sites content.

Give it a Try

Implementing and maintaing Google Adsense program on a content site requires very little effort and can often bring a steady stream of additional revenue for webmasters. Consider supplementing content and see what happens.

JV and Grow Rich

To illustrate the concept of arranging simple joint ventures that can lead to exciting new business opportunites, I am including a short story and correspondence that led me down a grand path to a very successful deal that involves one of the most successful personal and financial achievement books ever written, not to mention partnering with a living legend.

To start things off, in early July of 2002 I read "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill for the first time in my 36 years of existance on this spinning orb of madness. I have read many personal achievement books, but this one was different, I mean WAY different.

I had always heard this was a must read, but I thought since it was old (1st Printing 1937) that it was also out of date and not applicable to the world as it is today. How wrong I was. After reading the first few chapters, things started to become crystal clear, things that had been at best, hazy and out of focus only days earlier -- All of a sudden, I started to see how things were supposed to be done, how life should be lived and at long last, how continued success could be captured.

This all may sound very melodramatic, but I swear that it is true.

I had thought for many years about getting into the publishing business, but had never seriously considered it due to the fact there was so much risk involved due to all of the hard costs involved with standard publishing.

I had read about how some people on the Internet were making a lot of money publishing eBooks. At the time, I didn't feel I had the time to write my own, so I thought that "Think and Grow Rich" would be an excellent choice as it was very popular since it was written and it hadn't been converted into eBook form as far as I could tell. I could spread the word about a book that helped change my life for the better and get paid for it! Doesn't get much better than that.

I looked at the publisher's name (Fawcett Books) in my copy of the paper-back version that I had. I recall inquiring about getting the rights to another book a year or so previous, so I knew better than go the large publishers. They always want some rediculuos of money to license their books, even if they are not doing well or out of print. Around $4,000.00 or so in upfront royalties.

I knew that I have to go another route, so I searched on Amazon for another publisher and noticed a familiar name. A name that I had actually sent checks to in my younger years. A name that was synonymous with big-time mail order publishing. Someone who had sold millions of books, but decided to stay independent because he love the business. His name is Melvin Powers of the famed Wilshire Book Company.

I sent an email on 7-25-02 to Melvin Powers who is the owner of Wilshire Book Company. By 8-2-02, Melvin responded by asking me to "come" to his office 1:00pm. His misunderstood me and I called him around 1:00pm. By 2:00pm, we had a verbal agreement on what the simple terms of the deal were for exclusive rights to his library of titles. By 8-3-02 the 1st and 2nd drafts of the (1) page agreement between us was complete.

Poof! I was instantly in the highly respected publishing business with one of the top names in the industry. Wow, how cool is that?

What did we talk about for the hour we were on the phone you ask? I had a short list of questions that he answered masterfully. We discussed many things, but the bottom line of all of this is..."Dont be afraid to ask for what you want" You may just be surprised at what you can accomplish.

I simply asked Melvin if he was interested in working with me and he said "YES". Anyone could have approached Melvin (many have), but I did it in a relaxed and enthusiastic way that Melvin could read over the phone I suppose. We launched the book on 9-20-02 and have been doing quite well with it and are in the process of converting his other books.

That's pretting much it. Remember, all you have to do is ASK. The worst that someone can say is no. Shrug it off and go to the next person. It's really not personal.

Here are the 2 email correspondences Melvin and I had, before we talked on the phone.

Dear Melvin,

We have corresonded in the past & your advice was very sound. I really like your Mail Order Millionaire program...I just wish I had picked up "Think & Grow Rich" when I first listened to your program over a year ago. I just read it about 2 weeks ago & have been hopping ever since. --OMG you have the "Laws of Success" by Napoleon Hill. I was wondering what happened to this, nobody ever talks about it.

I am interested in discussing converting some of your books into ebooks as I think they could get a second birth on the net. I just hate waiting for something in the mail anymore that could just as easily be delivered on the net. Is there any way we could talk about setup some kind of pilot program to test this theory.

Let me know if you are interested.

Sincerely,

Rod

6 Things to Increase Your Affiliate Income

So you've signed up for affiliate programs, posted links around thenet but you're still only making pocket change? Wonder what others aredoing that you aren't? Below you will find 6 things that everyaffiliate marketer needs to increase their income.

#1 - Your own Website:

Build a website to promote the product. Make sure it has its own paidfor domain name (yourproduct.com), not a free site like(yourproduct.othersitename.com). If you don't know how to build a website there are lots of places that offer simple site builders or you could choose to have someone build a site for you.

#2 - Write reviews:

You need to know your product and preferable use it yourself so thatyou can write honest reviews about it. What better way to promote aproduct and get people to believe it's great than to say you use ittoo? Post these reviews on your website, in your newsletters, articlesand any other site you visit that gives you an opportunity to do so.

#3 - Use a Blog:

I recommend that you get a Blog and link back and forth to yourwebsite. This will allow you to create discussions on the blog aboutthe product you are selling and list any updates to your regularwebsite. Active Blogs are indexed quicker by many search engines thanare new sites, and after the blog is indexed, the pages you havelinked to the blog will also get indexed.

#4 - Write Articles:

One of the best ways to become an expert on your product is to writearticles on the Internet and include a link to your website in theresource box. There is a plethora of places to submit articles and themore you write, the more people will trust what you are saying. Youget more exposure, more people coming to your website; more clickthorough of your affiliate link to purchase the product thus makingyou more money.

#5 - Put your links in your signature lines:

Never allow a sale to pass you by! If you are a member of even oneforum, you need to have your affiliate link in your signature line. It's free advertisement and you never know who will see it and clickthrough to check out your product.

#6 - Use Links instead of banners or buttons:

Due to the overwhelming amount of pop-ups and flashy text that we geteach time we visit a website, people have learned to block out theseas well as banners and buttons. It's much more professional lookingand effective to have a text link with a few lines about the product.

If you are serious about increasing your affiliate income I suggestyou at least do some further research on the things I have listed. Ifyou choose to use these suggestions and take the time to do themcorrectly, I believe you will see an increase in your income.
